Who is Travis Green?
Travis graduated from Bethel College
in St. Paul, MN, in 1997 with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Athletic Training as well
as two minors - one in Health and the other
in Physical Education. After graduating,
Travis passed his Athletic Training exam
and became a Certified Athletic Trainer
registered with the Minnesota Board of Medical
Practice (#1423). Shortly after this, he
also received his status as a Strength and
Conditioning Specialist through the National
Strength and Conditioning Association. Travis
then spent two years in Alexandria, MN,
fine tuning his skills as an Athletic Trainer
with the Douglas County Hospital, as the
Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
for ISD #206, and as a Personal Trainer
in one of the local health clubs. In 1999,
Travis began his career as a Personal Trainer
with Life Time Fitness at the Woodbury,
MN location, and in late 2000, Travis was
offered a position at the Minneapolis Life
Time Athletic Club and was employed there
until June of 2004.
At this point, Travis began his own company
titled Verde Solutions and opened a training
facility late in June of 2004 with fellow
trainer, Victor Straw, in Woodbury, MN.
The 2000 square foot state-of-the-art facility
is called Victory Fitness, and it is an
appointment-only training facility catering
to the fitness/health needs of all people.
Though it is a young business, it has enjoyed
great success and has been featured in the
January 2005 issue of Woodbury Magazine.
Since August of 2004, Travis has been an
independent contractor as a personal trainer
and massage therapist at the Corrective
Exercise Specialists facility in downtown
Minneapolis, which is run as an appointment-only
basis, much like Victory Fitness, and includes
services such as physical therapy, Pilates
and massage therapy services. Travis also
provides massage therapy at the CES facility
at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, MN.
Travis’s professional
areas of interest are injury care and prevention,
special populations (people with disabilities
or special needs), athletic populations/sport
specific, Olympic weightlifting and massage
therapy.
Travis has appeared on local television
several times:
WCCO – “4
Stories” with Randy Kaye. This
special covered local inspirational stories,
and one of Travis’ dearest clients,
Rosalind Sampson, was chosen to be one of
the stories. Rosalind was involved in a
motor vehicle accident over 20 years ago
and was left without the use of her legs.
Since then, she has overcome many obstacles
and hardships. A little over two years ago,
she began working with Travis, and although
there have been occasional setbacks, Rosalind
always seems to bounce back better than
before. The piece covered Rosalind’s
life story and had many scenes of Travis
working with her, and he was interviewed
as well.
*Rosalind’s success with Travis was
also featured in the “Success Story”
in the Nov./Dec. 2002 issue of Experience
Life magazine.
A KARE 11 story
highlighted the importance of having Automated
External Defibrillators (AED) available
to the general public to increase the chances
of survival for heart attack victims. Travis
was interviewed because of his direct involvement
in using the device to save a member at
the club where he worked. Since the story
aired, Travis has used an AED to help save
the life of one other person.
Travis was the health and fitness expert
for 2003 LTF Triathlon on the Saturday morning
edition on KARE 11 that demonstrated and
explained several strength training exercises
that people could do at home on a regular
basis to increase their fitness levels.
Travis’ hobbies and interests are
in-line skating/racing, lacrosse, camping/hiking
along the shores of Lake Superior and nature
photography. Travis also enjoys spending
his down time relaxing with his wife, Julie,
and their two daughters, Sidney and Lauren,
whom he resides with in Cottage Grove, MN.
